A meteoric start
Joanna discovered HYROX through her gym community. “All our members were doing it, everyone was talking about it.” Her first weekend in the sport (Melbourne, 2024) set the tone: she won the Women’s Pro race (a timing-chip malfunction denied official recognition) and won the Open the next day.
Then it snowballed. Four weeks later she won Sydney in 1:05:07. Three weeks after that, Brisbane in 1:00:52: a sub-61 finish that ranked among the top four times in the world, and made her one of only a handful of women ever under 61 minutes. A near five-minute improvement in three weeks.
A record-breaking season
Joanna became the first Australian woman to qualify for the Elite 15, took 2nd at the 2025 World Championships, won the Hong Kong Major (59:58), won the Phoenix Major (56:03), and then ran 54:25 at the 2026 Warsaw Major: a new Women’s Solo Pro world record and a clean sweep of the season’s Majors. She’s now the fastest woman in HYROX history.
At the same Warsaw event, Joanna joined Sinéad Bent, Charlie Botterill and Sebastian Ifversen to set the HYROX Relay World Record: 46:47. See the result on ROXFIT.
Mindset over everything
Joanna credits the leap to training volume and a mental shift. She walks to the line telling herself, simply, “you’re training for this.” Belief and consistency, not just talent, separate good from great.
