Charlie Botterill The Ex-Pro Cyclist Going All-In on HYROX

A cyclist’s engine
Charlie’s aerobic base comes from years in professional cycling, including racing in France, plus a football background before that. That engine shows: a recent 20-minute bike FTP test hit 411 watts, and his run sessions feature controlled threshold work like 10×4 minutes at 3:20/km pace.
All-in on HYROX
After establishing himself across Elite singles and doubles, including a 54:38 Pro time at Glasgow 2026 and racing the 2025 World Championships in Chicago, Charlie went full-time, having saved six months of expenses first. He’s now raced 70+ times across four seasons. His doubles results tell their own story: 48:55 with Jake Williamson at London 2026, then 48:05 with Jake Dearden at Barcelona 2026, the second-fastest Men’s Pro Doubles time ever run. At Warsaw 2026 he also joined Sinéad Bent, Joanna Wietrzyk and Sebastian Ifversen to set the HYROX Relay World Record: 46:47. See the result on ROXFIT.
Training and mindset
His weeks run to roughly 23 hours, the majority low-intensity on the bike, StairMaster and elliptical to build volume without impact, with strength work like trap-bar deadlifts and kettlebell swings. He uses a “pulling the carrot” peaking approach borrowed from the Ingebrigtsens.
Charlie has been open about battling mental health struggles and is a big advocate for them, crediting routine, community and perspective as his tools. His mantra: “I get to do this. Being able to choose my discomfort is a privilege.”
